| "Outrageous Office" Contest
Winners Announced!!!! |
OUTRAGEOUS
OFFICE WINNERS!!!
Ok. The Judging is OVER and the WINNERS
are in!!!! I am proud to announce the winners of the "Outrageous Office"
Contest. The judges had a great time looking through all of the AWESOME
entries, and worked long and hard choose their top 5 (plus an honorable
mention). The judges decided that to choose the winners for this particular
contest - they would judge the entries based on the day-to-day living
of the office. Rather than choosing an office that was "outrageous"
because of a prank or one-time event. So, now I am happy to introduce
you to the winning OUTRAGEOUS OFFICES...
Make sure you visit THIS
PAGE to see the pictures
of ALL of the winners!!!!
(Thanks
again to our partner, Simply
Youth Ministry, for donating the prizes)

Here are some pix of my "Mobile Creative Environment." One
of the most often used phrases spoken by Jesus was (right up there
with "Do not fear", and "Verily, Verily I say unto you
. . .") was "The Kingdom is like . . ." so here is where
I store every object lesson I have ever used . . . well most of them. I
take objects that teens DO understand and cherish and use them to illustrate
the message they might not understand (or cherish). You
will find a fire hydrant, suit of armor, inflatable Mummy sarcophogus,
a piece of the Berlin Wall, a 4 foot pencil, over 20 shelves of figurines,
an inflatable palm tree, a Ukranian military uniform, a copy of the
Declaration of Independence, traffic light, gumball machine, a note
from George H. W. Bush, a talking Abbott and Costello sculpture, a
bust of Abraham Lincoln, an autographed photo of Roscoe P. Coltrane,
a Flintstone Water Buffalo hat, a tribute to the Muppets (still working
on how the kingdom is quite like that), a door devoted to my three
girls, an 8X10 of the cast of the ABC hit "That's Incredible!",
and an Easter Island kleenex dispenser . . . and more.
The focal point of the room does contain a poster that says "He Who
Dies With The Most Toys . . . .Still Dies" . . . just so people will
know that MY kingdom is not built around all of the stuff, but I have used
most of it to tell THE story of HIS Kingdom. In essence, it is a
sanctuary to spur the creativity and bring some nostalgic happiness to
all who enter. I recently had to move into this new office and it
took some time to pack and unpack it all. Someone said that it looked
as though everything that had been sold on eBay for the past 8 months had
mistakenly been delivered to my floor. My goal has been to create
a fun place to be for teens whose lives often need a bit of child-likeness
infused into their soul. |
SECOND PRIZE: Warren
Shepherd
- The
Whole Enchilada (Jr. High resources) ($169)
- Mentor
Me Year 1 & Leaders are Learners Bundle ($193)
- Small
Group Start Up Kit ($199)
- Jr.
High Camp in a Can – Fill it Up ($32)
- 26
Teaching Outlines, Vol. 1-3 Bundle ($99)
TOTAL VALUE = $692
My
office is outrageous because…
1. My diploma from college is one the same wall and in equal level (equal
importance?) to my surfing diploma!
2. I have airplane seats from an old SW Airlines airplane
3. My office has a coffin! I made this for a class at camp this summer,
and it hasn’t left my office yet because I haven’t had time.
If I win I would really like getting the free stuff, especially since this
coffin has been used to scare the crap out of my secretaries (having one
of the teens jump out of it at them!), so since my name is mud around here
now any lovin’ I can get from the outside would be appreciated! |

FOURTH PRIZE: Ed Belzer
- The
Whole Enchilada (Jr. High resources) ($169)
- Small
Group Start Up Kit ($199)
- Jr.
High Camp in a Can – Fill it Up ($32)
TOTAL VALUE = $400
About 10 years ago I started
collecting Hot Wheels. I leave them in the packages.
I started an idea of hanging them on my
office walls.
I am now done collecting because I am out of office space. I have over
500 hot wheels on my office walls. They are put up by thumb tacs.
It’s amazing how many teenagers have
or are presently collecting hot wheels! Little children are awestruck
when they come in!
It’s been fun! |
FIFTH PRIZE: Steve
Mallery
- Small
Group Start Up Kit ($199)
- Jr.
High Camp in a Can – Action Heroes ($32)
- Jr.
High Camp in a Can – Fill it Up ($32)
TOTAL VALUE = $253
This was the
best I could do to take a picture of my office. There were not midifications
made for the contest i literally have over 300 altoids tins on my walls
and in my office. I have tins for following altoids: Wintergreen, Cinnamon,
Peppermint, Spearmint, Ginger, Liquorice, Apple Sours, Tangerine Sours,
Mango Sours, Citrus sours, Peppermint, cinnamon, apple, and cherry
gum. Altoids strips, Pocket Altoids, Tiny Tins, Big tins, Trio tin,
two store displays one that says love hurts, and one that says boom
box, and an altoids keys chain. i used to have about 20 altoids ads
on another wall in my office, but they were taking up too much wall
space so I took them down. Kind of an "outrageous office" |
HONORABLE
MENTION: Rick Chalupnik
- The
Whole Enchilada (Jr. High resources) ($169)
TOTAL VALUE = $169
This
is my office wrapped in Aluminum Foil. It took 6 people four hours
and they used three industrial sized rolls (from SAM’S)
of Aluminum Foil. The foil ball that I collected after taking it all
down is about 2 1⁄2 feet in diameter! The best part is that they
did this for no reason at all. I guess they just love me that much!
If you’re wondering about boosting cell phone coverage by surrounding
yourself with tinfoil, it doesn’t work. And, if you have a lot
of cavities in your mouth your head can become like an antenna playing
music from far away lands. By the way, everything visible was wrapped
in tinfoil, floor to ceiling. And behind the tinfoil was a layer of
post-it notes, some of which are still up 6 months later. If you’re
wanting a new look for your office, I highly recommend tinfoil. |
