September 1, 2009 SPECIAL BAJAINSIDER TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE AT 9AM THE GOVERNMENT OF MEXICO HAS AGAIN EXPANDED HURRICANE WARNINGS AND WATCHES FOR BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, BAJA CALIFORNIA AND MAINLAND MEXICO. MOST OF THE STATE OF BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR IS NOW UNDER HURRICANE WARNING. HURRICANE JIMENA REMAINS A DANGEROUS CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE FORECAST TO MOVE ALONG THE PACIFIC COAST OF BAJA SUR ON TUESDAY AND MAKE LANDFALL LATE WEDNESDAY OR EARLY THURSDAY. PREPARATIONS FOR HURRICANE CONDITIONS SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION IN WARNING AREAS. Dear Baja Insider Subscriber: Hurricane Jimena is now less than 140 miles from Cabo San Lucas and there, they are experiencing heavy rains and winds. Here in La Paz, we are experiencing periods of moderate rain and drizzle, with dark clouds on the southern horizon. From
the National Hurricane Center in Miami at 9AM MDT...
The good news is the Jimena has begun to diminish slightly and is forecast to continue a slow degradation before making landfall. The most recent path from the NHC puts the storm slightly more offshore, another positive factor. We will continue to provide updates to the BajaInsider as they are released from the NHC, we may even get you some video... as long as the internet connection holds out! The
