Dumb¦Found:Sound - News, artists, music, party and competition!
hello all..

Summer is finally on our doorstep, which means the latest installment of Dumbfounsound with Peter Van Hoesen and Adam Marshall is only two weeks away. Before we get onto the details for the next party though, we'd like to share a few things with you . . . first, we'd like to say a massive thank you to all that came to DF:09. Last minute changes to the venue and the line up caused a few sleepless nights so we were delighted that you still came in droves to rock the place – three cheers to you all!
Secondly, we’ve been thinking about what else we can do with our newsletter. Rather than just add to your already bulging inboxes with information about the party, we'll try to give you something with a bit more substance . . . we'll be chatting to the artists who play at our parties, sharing our thoughts and recommendations for the best music we’ve been listening to and we also have a little something to give back to you . . . so read on ;-)

The next Dumb¦Found¦Sound event will be a treat to all techno and house aficionados as we will be graced by two super talents of the electronic music scene at Dumb¦Found:10 in the form of Peter Van Hoesen and Adam Marshall, with support from local talets; Phiorio and John Connell. Peter will be playing live as part of his 'Entropic City' album tour.  Adam, who recently released an amazing EP (see below), is highly regarded here in our HQ, some of us was fortunate enough to witness his cutting edge music at last year's Mutek. Phiorio has also just released a collaboration EP with Pattrix called simply RM05, check it out below. John Connell is back! Grain Records co-founder and producer will be playing a highly antcipated extended set, don't miss this one!
We're very excited to be holding DF:10 at the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel. It’s a bit of an institution and provides us with a crisp soundsystem, a great atmosphere and cheap drinks – which sounds pretty good to us! So, we still have a few £8 early bird tickets left on RA but, if you miss out on these, then advance tickets are still only a tenner.. . . Look forward to seeing you all on the 11th for another great night.

Early bird and advance ticket here!

Catching up with Phiorio

Phiorio is fast becoming a Dumb¦Found¦Sound favourite and he will grace us with his skills again at Dumb¦Found:10. his last two sets energised both early evening shakers and late morning movers and he will again man the decks for a 2 hour set though we haven’t decided yet who he’s going to please this time.
Tell us about your latest production?
My latest production is RM05 and it has just been released on our new label Retrometro. I produced it with my friend Pattrix (we know each other since the free party days, we used to play techno together for many London sound systems) in his new studio Space Control Room in Hackney Wick. It’s a three tracker and it’s way heavier than the stuff I have been making lately, a bit of a back to our roots...back to making techno!
What is the story behind your sub-label, Retrometro, and what's going on with Metroline?
We started Retrometro to have an output that would allow us to release techno again. Over the last 2 years Metroline Limited has embraced different sounds and grew to a point where it became difficult to move away from the sound the label was known for. Because we still love techno and we really felt we wanted to put it out again we decided to start Retrometro. We have already put out five releases and things are going really well.
We have plenty of new stuff coming out on Metroline, we just released the first ever Metroline Compilation, Mabaan Soul new EP is out today and Rio Padice’s new work will be released in mid June. Then we’ll have releases by Elon, Matt Masters and many more!
What can we expect from your next set for Dumb¦Found:10?
I have been very busy digitasing a lot of old records I haven’t touched in a few years lately...I am really looking forward to playing them at the next Dumb¦Found besides some new and hot stuff!

Music we've been listening to

Three disticntively different tracks. The twisted synth and the rolling percussion of 'Burn it Down' and 'Grapple' will go down a treat in RF' Turbo soudsystem! Great release from the New Kanada label boss.

Four wonderful tracks that fuses melodic electronica, deep house and classic Detroit techno. We expect big things from the newly launched label!

Three warehouse techno from Retrometro’s own Phiorio and Pattrix (from the Mutate To Survive record label) that beg to be blasted out over a heaving, dark dancefloor.

Competitons

we've got a pair of tickets for DF:10 and lovely music courtesy of Metroline to give away to lucky readers, to be in with a chance all you need to do is pick the track of the month (in true World Cup style) and tell us why, from the selection of music we have listed above and if the panel of judges (us!) agrees with your choice then you're the winner.
