Demopalooza - a day (and an evening) of Glass Demonstrations!  This special, SUPER SIZED monthly meeting is open to all current members of Southern Flames as well as guests.  (a $10 per person donation is suggested)

Our wonderful line-up of artists will have work for sale during the event, so please come prepared to shop and support our volunteer demonstrators.
 
*We will be putting together a lunch take-out order for pizza at the beginning of the day, so if you don't bring a bag-lunch, there will be an option for orering-in.  We don't want you to miss a thing!!

Val Cox
A new resident of Atlanta, Val literally wrote the book on frit and will demonstrate some creative and technical approaches for incorporating vibrantly colored and reactive based furnace glass frits into your beadmaking style, including faux boro, gold-based transparents and working with Raku. Learn how to properly layer colors for maximum luminosity and how to avoid the common mishaps for those new to working with glass frits in beadmaking.  More about Val at www.valcox.com and  www.valcoxfrit.com
 
Ricky Frank

 
Internationally known enamelist and our special guest, Ricky Frank creates "miniature worlds of light and color in enamel."  His pieces are "designed to capture the transparent qualities of enamel so that the work appears to glow from within."  We are so lucky to have him for an entire evening because he will be demonstrating from start to finish one of his amazing Cloisonne Enamel pieces.  Read more about Ricky and see more images of his beautiful work at his website www.rickyfrank.com
 
 
 
Maureen McRorie
 
 
Maureen is a long-time member of Southern Flames, as well as the Queen Bee at Flametree Glass in Roswell.  An award winning artist, she is known for her detailed sculptural work in soft glass.  She will be demonstrating a lampwork sculpted face.  Lots of information about Maureen's work can be found on her website
 
 
Jack Roberts
 
 
Jack, a long-time part of the Southern Flames community will be joining us to share his techniques in borosillicate glass.  His specialties are small sculptures and pendants and he will demonstrate for us one of his hollow pendants.
 
 
Ali VanderGrift
 

 
Ali is traveling from Tennessee to be one of our demonstrators at Demopalooza.  We invited her specifically to show her detailed stringer-work on her incredibly detailed beads.  She will demo one of her large round beads, which is covered in intricate scrollwork, that will later be capped/cored in metal.  See more of Ali's work at her etsy site www.etsy.com/shop/aliveglass
 

Kelley Wenzel

Similar to our Garage Sale... but different.  This year, we are encouraging members to bring beads and finished jewelry as well as tools and supplies to sell... Your choice.  Each person will get a small space in which to display their work (approx 2'x2')  So be inventive with your space-saving displays and come ready to shop!
