Soda is substantly less abrasive compared to Sand or Crushed Glass therefore it can remove surface rust but not the deep rust often embedded in metals. In those situations, we have gone with a Crushed Glass Baking Soda mix to clean off the rust. The 1940 Truck Cab depicted is a great example of where media mixture was extremely effective.
In those situations where deep rust is evident on thin metal items, a Crushed Glass Mix Baking Soda mix will remove the rust but leave a larger profile on the surface as opposed to using only Baking Soda or Dry Ice. The imporant factor is the metal will not WARP.
