No monkey business in Bidjigal Reserve
Attend a conciliation conference discussing Go Ape's proposal for a High Rope Adventure Course through Bidjigal ReserveWhen: 7pm, tonight Where: Function Room (turn right after you go in the main entrance) The Hills Shire Council Chambers 129 Showground Road Castle Hill NSW 2154 (entrance via Carrington Road) RSVP: Call Irene Peh at Baulkham Hills Shire Council on 9843 0175
Bidjigal Reserve in Sydney’s Hills District has been described as a place of “rugged natural beauty and full of hidden treasures; a time capsule of ancient ecosystems, aboriginal shelters and colonial history”.
But this natural haven is under threat from a proposal by Go Ape! for constructing a High Rope Adventure Course through the Ted Horwood , Excelsior and Bidjigal reserves.
The reserve is home to more than 370 native plant species including 29 different native orchids, endangered ecological communities and rare and threatened species. The Nature Conservation Council is concerned that Go Ape's proposal includes the removal of 77 trees and a further 1,730m2 of habitat removed or modified, and that public access will be lost to the bushland area of this public park.
