Leavenworth County Development Corporation is proud to announce the premiere of Workforce Development News. This newsletter will provide Leavenworth County employers, schools and workforce with valuable information regarding job opportunities, training and financial resources. |
The Department of Defense is giving $6,000 grants to military spouses for education. The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program is currently available to assist individuals. The website, www.militaryonesource.com has additional information about the MyCAA accounts and other available resources.
The Department of Defense (DoD) Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program provides a lifetime benefit of up to $6,000 of Financial Assistance for military spouses who are pursuing licenses, certificates, credentials or degree programs leading to employment in Portable Career Fields.
MyCAA pays tuition for education and training courses, and professional licenses, certifications, and credentials. This includes state certifications for teachers, medical professionals and other occupations requiring recognized certifications; licensing exams and related prep courses; Continuing Education Unit classes including those offered through professional associations. MyCAA also pays for High School Completion courses, GED tests and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

Host a Classroom-to-Career Program |

The Leavenworth County Development Corporation has recently started a new workforce initiative, Classroom-to-Career. The program connects Leavenworth County employers to their future workforce. The initiative was designed to build a skilled, qualified workforce within Leavenworth County in addition to trying to recruit new laborforce to the community.
Leavenworth County high schools are given the opportunity to allow their students to see firsthand the career opportunities in the county. If you're company is interested in participating in the program you will be given the chance to educate students about careers available at your company and share with them education requirements.

Plant Closing Information |

If your company foresees a large number of new hires in the near future and you're concerned about finding qualified workforce, contact LCDC today. We have access to plant closings and location of manufacturers that have left qualified individuals unemployed. Plant closing information is very valuable if you are looking to recruit manufacturing employees to Leavenworth County.
