Last week I was with Blue Horizon International again visiting doctors in Beijing, Wuhan, Nanjing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Over that last few months we've developed strong relationships with stem cells physicians in China. In Nanjing we visited Decon Biotechnology. They have a cancer treatment which uses your own immune system to destroy it's own cancer at a cellular level. Doctors draw the patient's blood then treat the blood so the immune cells ("dendritic cells") get trained to recognize cancer cells. The treated blood is reinjected into the patient and the patient's T cells train the rest of their body to recognize cancer cells and respond by destroying them. There are no side effects with this treatment. Decon's founder Dr. Shi said as an example a melanoma skin tumor the size of a smartphone was shrunk in half just after one injection. A treatment which costs $50k consists of drawing blood, treating it, then reinjecting it back 4 times, once every 7 days. They have treated 1,500 patients with 3-5 months to live and over 80% of them have had positive responses (tumors shrink and they live longer). They anticipate that patients treated in early stages of cancer can be completely cured. They have also used similar modality to treat hepatitis with successful outcomes.
