DeROSSETT Locates in Leavenworth County
DeROSSETT COMPANY is moving its business from Kansas City, Kansas to a building at 178th Street and State Avenue between Tonganoxie and Basehor. The company will initially bring its 5 existing employees to Leavenworth County but will have room for some job growth in the future.

DeROSSETT COMPANY is a manufacturer’s representative for materials used by natural gas utilities. DeRossett has been in business as a distributor of natural gas equipment for more than 25 years. The company’s clients are utilities in 6 states including South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Mike DeRossett, the company’s owner, said he plans to build offices onto the front of the 5,000 square foot former welding shop. To assist in the building expansion and the location of the new jobs to the county, the Leavenworth County Port Authority offered financial incentives based on the amount of capital investment and the number of new jobs.
2008-2009 Existing Industry Report
The 2008-2009 Existing Industry Report is now available on the LCDC website. The report highlights results from 85 existing business visits in the past year between October 2008 and December 2009.

The detailed report shows what type of businesses LCDC meets with, the progress of different companies and has laborforce information. The report also summarizes the type of assistance that has been offered to existing businesses. Out of 85 companies, LCDC provided assistance to 30 companies in Leavenworth County.

Virtual Spec Building Program
Leavenworth Count Port Authority has announced its virtual spec building program. The LCPA has designed facilities from 30,000 to 60,000 SF which can be customized or even expanded to meet a company’s needs. Each building is designed to maximize square footage on specific parcels in the Gary Carlson Business Park, Urban Hess Business Park and Lansing Business Center.

Prices depend on building use but the cost of land may be reduced or eliminated based on the type of business, level of capital investment and the number of new jobs to the County. If you have any questions, check out http://www.lvcountyed.org/virtual.php or contact Steve Jack at 913-727-6111.
