Easter 2010 - When East Meets West...
There are different methods for calculating the date of Easter in the Western calendar of the Protestant and Catholic churches, and the Eastern Orthodox church.

This year, the two branches of Christianity celebrate Easter on the same calendar date - April 4, 2010. The two dates of Easter fall in and out of sync over time, but on average they occur together every four to six years.

Check out the Wikipedia page on Easter for more information about how this important date is scheduled.

REMINDER:

Canadian Choral Centre Inc. is closed Good Friday (April 2) and Easter Monday (April 5).

Orders placed electronically (e-mail and online), and online account requests will be processed Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

Happy Easter!
NEWS FLASH: New PDQ Bach Octavo...
Professor Peter Schickele has edited, without regard to consequences, a newly discovered work by P. D. Q. Bach. "Long Live the King" is available for SAB (or SATB or STB) and tells a very different version of the French Revolution...
Great fun for the more experienced choir, this tongue in cheek romp through French history is a wonderful addition to your novelty repertoire.
Santa Barbara New Releases for Summer...
We've added a special section featuring some of our favorite new releases from Santa Barbara Music Publishing for the spring season.
We recommend:
  • Frank Rocca's SSAA setting of Sister Columba Guare's poem O Eve would make a lovely addition to a Lessons and Carols service at Advent or Christmastime.
  • Sound Off by Paul Rardin is a toe-tapping, laugh out loud glee-club style romp for the TTBB choir.
Here Comes the Bride...
Wedding season is nearly upon us! Start planning now in order to have your music ready in time for the beginning of summer - June, July and August are prime months for the marriage-minded.

Check out this duet collection for organ and trumpet, sure to make any wedding ceremony (or festive celebration) sound fabulous:

Just for Fun:

An amazing juxtaposition of technology and music, must be heard to be appreciated. Dozens of people all over the world create a choir that has never met by singing to a video conducting track. Read the beginnings of the "experiment" here on Eric's blog. Feeling inspired? Get your own copies of Sleep for SATB Divisi and try this lovely piece with your own choir.
