October 20, 2009 SPECIAL BAJAINSIDER TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE
AT 3AM THE GOVERNMENT OF MEXICO
HAS POSTED TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS & WATCHES Dear Baja Insider Subscriber: AT
9AM MDT 10/20/09 FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI... Tropical Storm Rick has diminished significantly from the dangerous Category 5 Hurricane that moved toward Baja California Sur over the weekend. However, significant rainfall of between 3" and 6" could still be expected along with tropical storm force winds. Tropical Storm Rick is forecast to move about 60-80 miles south of the south eastern shores of Baja California Sur, across the Sea of Cortez to make landfall on the mainland. Tropical storm force winds currently extend out more than 150 miles, so parts of the tip of the peninsula will still experience winds to 60mph late this evening and on into tomorrow morning. We are glad that the full force of Rick will not be inflicted on the southern portions of the Baja peninsula.
We will be updating our information every three hours 24hrs per day or as more information is released from the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Additional Insider Updates will be released as Watches and Warnings change.
