Welcome to our latest newsletter. Ma and Pa are feeling pretty chipper down by the river because the birds are singing earlier and louder each morning, and the evenings are drawing out.
However, we haven’t mothballed our wellies for the winter yet, as the mighty Avon shows us just what it can do during a hide tide. Ma is in the picture for perspective and her good looks, and the dogs are bewildered trying to find the edge of the bank!
Music Club
This Sunday sees our increasingly popular Beeses’ music club. Gypie is really bringing Pete Gage this time and we’re looking forward to a bit of foot tapping R’n’B delivered in traditional British pre-punk style. We will have a simple menu available including home made beef or veggie chilli, a range of home made soups and a selection of freshly prepared French bread rolls, or how about a clotted cream tea (frankly it’s the new rock and roll), so forget cooking!
Beer
The real ale this week will be the gorgeous Gem (Bath Ales). We do get other beers in but it’s a problem weaning Pa off Gem, although he is also rather keen on our regular Butcombe Blonde! Whilst we have limited space for real ale we are endeavouring to have different ones and a couple of weeks ago we had BOB (Wickwar Brewing Co.) in and Ma took a shine to this tasty tipple.
Summer Opening Hours
This is an extremely busy time at Beeses. Lots of maintenance and improvements will be taking place over the next few weeks in preparation for the launch of our new summer hours from Good Friday (6 April), which are:
| Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. |
| Friday & Saturday | 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. |
| Sunday | 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
We will be closed Mondays except Bank Holidays when we will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Good Food
We are kicking off the new season on Good Friday from 12:00 p.m. Our new menu will be available and will be on the website for you to view from 5 March. Ma has worked hard at finding the right suppliers so that we can offer quality ingredients, which as far as is reasonably possible are locally supplied. This does mean our food is not the cheapest but we think you care more about how the meat, in particular, is farmed. Our supplier uses local farmers who practice excellent animal husbandry without the use of pesticides. The animals travel no more than four miles to the slaughter house. The beef is from Angus heifers and is hung for 28 days to mature.
Easter Beeses’ Launch
To really get the season going we’re having live music each day and Good Friday (6 April) sees Eddie Martin (UK’s premier blues musician) playing between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Further details of the bands and musicians playing will be announced in our March newsletter as well as in the local press.
Beeses in Rupert Murdoch partnership shock!
Yes, it’s true, Pa Beese has climbed into bed with the king of sleaze (now there’s an image...) by signing up for a MySpace account. Ma doesn’t understand any of it, even though Pa has told her that all the bright young things have a MySpace account these days, which they use to get busy making new friends, leaving puerile messages and generally making out on the autonet. Oh, and it’s a marketing tool as well. So if you or your young ‘uns have a MySpace account, go to http://www.myspace.com/beeses and be a friend of Beeses. Do it today!
Well that’s it for now. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
