Dear Baja Insider Subscriber:

We are beginning to move into late summer weather in Baja now. Here in La Paz the temps have dropped a degree or two, but the humidity is on the rise. The Sea of Cortez is absolutely wonderful for recreation right now. We still have some wind for the sailors, some great fishing for the sportsman and even some flat water for the skiers and boarders. The Sea of Cortez is in the upper 80°'s and the diving visibility is nearing 80ft.

This being the last week of August, we are also moving into the time of year we need to be watchful of tropical cyclones. Tropical Storm Ignacio is fading fast and may not even be around by the time most of you read this Insider Update. When a storm threatens Baja, our storm coverage is updated with graphics and information found only here on the Insider every 2hrs. We are the only major website bringing you un-sensationalized, on the scene reports from Cabo and La Paz and even storm video. Follow the threats here with our Tropical Watch Weather and Weekly Hurricane Watch Reports.

One of the Mexican news stories making headlines on the northern side of the boarder is the decriminalization of small quantities of some popular recreational drugs. Publisher James Glover takes a look at the real story and why it is designed to close the flood gates on drugs rather than open them as Mexico reassesses its 28 years of drug policy inspired by similar US policies.
