1.           Okanagan College applications OPEN on November 1st at 9am
a.            Students interested in the following programs are urged to apply on-line right at 9am as they are extremely competitive, have limited seating and fill very quickly. Please remember, they time stamp each application to the second, so if two students have the same marks and all the pre-reqs the one that applied first gets in first:
•             Bachelor of Science in Nursing
•             Certified Dental Assistant
•             Criminal and Social Justice
•             Human Kinetics
•             All Engineering Technology Programs

2.            Okangan College  will hosting an Open House/Information Night on Tuesday, November 8th from 4:30-6:30pm in the cafeteria
a.            They will be waiving the $30 application fee for any students that apply to OC at the Open House
b.            Program reps will be on hand, as well as our Education Advisor to answer questions and give out program information
c.             There will also be a draw for a $500 tuition voucher at the event

3.            Please remind any of your students who plan to start their Arts or Science degrees with us to book an appointment with Jeanne, our academic advisor...to map out all the classes that they will need to take in order to ensure a seamless transition into 3rd year of whichever university they plan to go to.
When a student takes their Associate of Arts or Sciences with us, there are a certain amount of credits they must have in Social Sciences, Humanities, etc that are required in order to even receive their Associate papers with OC. It is only through taking the required classes that they can be granted block transfer to UBCO for example. If they don’t meet with Jeanne to learn which classes they must take, they are at risk of not being able to get their full 60 credits accepted by another university.

4.            Due to a number of issues regarding the new Practical Nursing diploma program admission requirements, OC won’t be able to open applications to this program for the September 2012 intake until December 1, 2011 (one month later than usual). The admission requirements require some revisions that need to go to Education Council on November 3, 2011 with final approval by the Board of Governors on November 29, 2011.
