Fat Beats NewYork is proud to present its new retail partnership with New
York native crew *EIGHTARMS & BLACKMIST*.
The cultural styles they represent, reimagine and reinterpret have made
EightArms a Fat Beats favorite with their debut last year, and this
year's Fall/Holiday batch steps it up even harder.
Offering twelve tees, two classic 5-panel camp hats and, in collaboration
with Ebbets Field Flannels, a rugged cotton grounds crew jacket, EightArms &
BlackMist is definitely one to watch.
EightArms & BlackMist works only with select New York City accounts, and
their production runs are *extremely* limited so DON'T SLEEP -- these goods
will not last and once they are gone, they are gone forever. Like the
sights and sounds they grew up on, EightArms prefers underground
notoriety over diluted mass appeal consumption. They make product for the
true heads, the anti-funk fakers who prefer that simple and strong dopeness.

Quelle Chris - The S.O.N.
(Free EP)
|
Quelle Chris produced some of Danny Brown’s strongest tracks from his album “ The Hybrid” as well as his latest free album “ XXX” for the song “ Monopoly” and others.
Quelle Chris’s first internationally distributed full-length album “ Shotgun & Sleek Rifle” will be released on November 15th, which will be the first album put out on my friend’s company, Synergy Works name. The album is mostly produced by Quelle himself, although features production from House Shoes and Roc Marciano, while the guest vocal features include Danny Brown, Roc Marciano, and others.
First up is “The Son” demo which we are releasing today as a free EP download. This idea started as a joke when discussing trying to produce various viral content for this album and he wanted to make a ‘demo’ that sounded like it was recorded years ago, although he just made this a few months ago…all produced by Quelle Chris on his shitty mac book, with his vocals recorded through the shitty computer’s mic.
Anyways, hope you enjoy this. Feel free to post and share and please stay tuned for Quelle Chris’ official album “ Shotgun & Sleek Rifle” dropping November 15th. I’m also including some recent music videos for your reference. The first one is for the song “ G.O.D. = Power” which is from “ The Son” and the other video is for the song “ The Loop” featuring Utopia High which is off of his album “ Shotgun & Sleek Rifle.”

Has-Lo - Maxell UR
(Free Download)
|
Has-Lo is preparing for his new project "Conversation B" which comes out November 15th. To give people a taste of what's in store, Has-Lo is giving away the first track "Maxell UR".
The Song:
Maxell UR (produced by and featuring Has-Lo) takes a journey from conception to procession. Has-Lo narrates the story of how Hiphop weaves it's way into our being until we become Hiphop. Throughout the track Has' slick word play combines with the history of greats like Pete Rock, Bootcamp Clik, Big L, and Big Pun.
"6 feet deep covered in dirt and dead under my timbs"
The production swirls above the merely sentimental and reaches into the realm of majestic. The track layers a triumphant chorus of church-bred singers, plucky guitars and big drums to create an uplifiting song filled with displays of lyricism.
The Album:
Conversation B is a complete re-envisioning of In Case I Don't Make It. Exile, J-Zone, Oddisee, Kev Brown, Eric Lau, Apollo Brown and more lend their extensive production powers to the project. It is eclectic, melodic, chaotic, bleak and brutal all at once. The journey of a man at the tipping point continues.

Now-Again Records announces an expanded deluxe edition of its Texas Thunder Soul 1968- 1974 anthology, to be released in conjunction with the Jamie Foxx-produced, award-winning documentary Thunder Soul: The True Story of Conrad Johnson and the Kashmere Stage Band
After capturing audience awards festivals like SXSW and the Los Angeles Film Festival, the word is out that Kashmere was the greatest high school band - ever. Their story is tucked in between slabs of hard 70s funk, soul, and jazz: Conrad Johnson transformed a bunch of rough-hewn high schoolers into a band that could compete with any in the nation – professional, or otherwise. Forget high school bands, we're talking about sixteen year old kids who would give the JBs a run for their money!
The Kashmere Stage Band released a total of eight albums and three 45s on Johnson's Kram label. The band's best tracks are collected here – in an anthology now expanded into a 3LP/1DVD deluxe edition. Producer Eothen "Egon" Alapatt features an expanded booklet with updated liner notes and essays, more rare photos and ephemera, and a DVD which contains the B+/Flying Lotus produced Texas Jewels: The Making Of Texas Thunder Soul short, a recently unearthed 1973 documentary on the band, and a 1972 performance. |

Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, Jonti, began assembling music after his departure from South Africa to Australia. Spending countless hours studying records like they were books, processing each song, this became Jonti’s music school, testing his theories on a 4-track recorder.
Jonti has now recorded with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon and the Dap-Kings, as well as producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile). For Jonti’s debut album, coming this fall on Stones Throw, he went the opposite route, doing everything himself, start to finish.
The album is Twiligig, is slated for October release. Twirligig draws inspiration from many of Jonti’s favorite artists: Madlib, Stereolab, Free Design and The Beach Boys. But Twirligig’s main inspiration came from cartoonist/ filmmaker Norman Mclaren. Jonti explains, “His films are complex, but they’re still fun. You can feel his enthusiasm for techniques and experimentation. I try make simple pop songs with that same enthusiasm.”
Although Jonti describes his music as simple, label head Peanut Butter Wolf sees it as anything but that. “I understand the pop references because his music is so catchy, but the arrangements blew me away. I couldn’t figure out how the hell he did what he did. That he did it all on his own at such an early age kinda scared me. I knew right away I needed to add him to the roster.” You will soon understand why Stones Throw is proud to present it’s first Australian signing Jonti as a new member of the family. |

He explains the title by saying "every person I meet is a rapper, Dj, or makes beats. This is my way of saying who is legit from the new generation and I added a few of the OGs that still care about our music. This is a different sound from my previous albums. It's fresh and younger, but still very raw. I'm excited to show the older rap heads how dope some of the new guys are, as well as show some of the kids following the new guys how the OGs get down."
