Your E-update Regarding Youth Ministry Games, Ideas, Links, Lessons, Resources and More! Edition 12, No. 8 - May 26, 2007
I am excited to announce this new apportunity that will take place on an annual basis at Pastor2youth.com. This was a great idea developed from some of the regular P2Y users and it is a joy for me to be able to announce it and share it with everyone. On an annual basis, starting around January 1st of every year, I will take e-mail submissions from Youth Workers who would like to attend one of the annual Youth Ministry Conventions (such as the National Youth Worker's Convention OR the National Youth Ministry Conference), but cannot afford to go, to explain why they feel they are the most deserving of the scholarship money that will be raised that year to help offset their expenses. This individual has already been chosen for this year. BUT, we need your help!!! We ALL know how tight money is when you work in Youth Ministry. We ALL realize that "every penny counts." Well, that is the idea here. I have set up a "Chip In" account on Pastor2youth.com to collect donations for the purpose of scholarshiping this individual for one the conventions this year. But, we need YOUR help!!! You can donate funds to help this individual by either clicking on the "CHIP IN" graphic on the left-hand column of the homepage for pastor2youth.com, or by simply clicking this graphic:
As I said, I realize that money is tight for everyone these days. But, think of it this way. Give up 2 fast food meals this month and donate the money to help a youth worker. Give up 2 starbucks visits this month and help a youth worker. Give up 2 blockbuster movie rentals this month and help a youth worker. All three of these examples would be about $10. Our goal each year is to raise $1,100 total. If we could get 110 people to donate $10, we would reach our goal. 55 people to donate $20. And so on. You can note that ALL donations will be used SOLELY for this scholarship fund. This is why we set up "Chip In" so that everyone can track the progress and see how many people have contributed and how much has been raised so far. Please let me know if you have any questions, and PLEASE donate today!!!
After having a few months where I was MIA on my blog, I have resumed blogging on a regular basis. This is a great opportunity for me to share what God is doing in my personal life, ministry life, on pastor2youth.com, and so much more. It is a chance to share with others what is going on in my life and allow others to share with me how this impact them. Some posts are serious, some are light-hearted and fun. I would love it if you would consider adding me to your blogroll if you have one. And regardless of whether or not you have your own blog, I would GREATLY appreciate you taking some time to stop by and visit my blog, read a little, post your comments, and tell your friends about it. You can find my blog at: http://www.uthpastor.com (EASY to remember too) Hope to have you stop by, share in my life with me, and leave me a message.
The folks over at SimplyYouthMinistry.com
have
been working hard and cranking out some EXCELLENT new resources.
There
are
some great new additions to their already amazing line of Youth
Ministry
resources, and I wanted to highlight a few that I recommend not only
checking
out, but purchasing and putting into your youth ministry library of
resources. Inflate ball. Roll with the fun. Get youth discussing and sharing—instantly! The Throw & Tell Ice-Breakers Ball includes 52 questions . . . some serious, some wacky, some funny, some deep, some intimate—all intriguing. Simply inflate and let teenagers toss the ball around and answer whatever question lands under their left thumb. It's quick, it's easy, it's fun . . . and it involves everyone all of the time. Get teens talking, sharing, bonding, laughing, and exploring--as you prepare to launch a lesson. Group's new Throw & Tell Ice-Breakers Ball is your secret weapon when teenagers show up distracted, bored, or withdrawn. Some of the questions include: #2) "Jr. High Reeled In" Get ready for a heck of a fish tale with Reeled In. Looking at three
Bible
stories about our water-breathing friends, Kurt takes students
through
three
stages—from accepting God’s help in life, to becoming
aware of
the world’s needs, and then empowering them to follow
Christ’s
call. These messages will help your students focus on following and
obeying
Jesus while also strengthening them for the struggles they have now
and the
challenges they’ll face later. It’s a whopper of a series
that
you—and your students—won’t want to miss. #3) "Hooked" Money. Sex. Pride. Drugs. Glory. The lure of temptation is strong, and all it takes is one bite to get hooked—sometimes for life. Temptation is everywhere! Even if you’re not experiencing temptation at this moment, it will be knocking at your door in no time. Help your students get a big-picture perspective on how God wants to help them deal with temptation. And then follow up with some very practical steps they can take to prepare them to deal with tomorrow’s temptations and protect them for years to come. This four-week series covers: #4) "Jr. High Play It" Pulling up just short of backbends and pirouettes, Play It may be
one
of
our most flexible super-series yet. Each of these messages can stand
alone—by
helping your students take a look at their language, their personal
life,
and their understanding of forgiveness. But with a theme of popular
board
games tying all these lessons together, it makes for an exciting
three-week
series with lots of built-in illustrations and activities. Great for
a
weekend
retreat or camp, as well as a regular meeting or small group lesson.
No matter
how you decide to play it, students will never be able to look at
board games
the same way again! These are some INCREDIBLE new resources that I highly recommend you get!!!
