KP team makes a confession...

It has been a little over a year since the Knitting Peace journey started in the Women’s jail in La Paz Bolivia.  

 

During this time, the team of knitters and Knitting Peace founder Sonia Gallardo, have bonded and formed a collective which works as one unit in joy and peace while creating opportunities for healing and sustainability.

 

Sonia, is currently in Bolivia producing new items for the upcoming fall and winter Line. During this visit, she shared with her team the successful Christmas they had, thanks to the talent and hard work of each of them.

 

This news was received with enthusiasm and bashful laughter. The proud knitters looked at each other, with gratitude and praise. They timidly shared that many of them did not know how to knit when their journey with Knitting Peace began, but thanks to the support and encouragement of some of the more advanced knitters, all of them worked together and learned to knit from each other, paving the path to obtaining new skills which are now allowing them to sustain their families and feel empowered by the beautiful work they do.

This confession came as a complete surprise to Sonia, as the work they presented from the beginning was very good, and has gotten better consistently.

 

The quality of the work they present today is beautiful, the team seems to be working on autopilot, consistently presenting high quality hand knit one of a kind pieces. They are very proud of the work they do, and strive to better their artistry.

 

Yuli Esquire shared with Sonia her gratitude for the work opportunity, stating that not only does it help her feed and clothe her son, but it gives her the opportunity to heal and bond with other women of like mind.
