Dear ARTfestians!

Hold on to your hats... preparations are about to step up a notch or two as we head towards October's main event... Escape ARTfest - the highlight of our district's cultural calendar!

The committee are busily getting events and ideas together, and very keen to get your involvement and support.

WEBSITE
: Thanks to our amazing friends at Re[invent]Yourself  www.reinventyourself.com.au the Escape ARTfest website has been redesigned and looking pretty fabulous. The new system is easy to navigate and offers loads more information about every aspect of the festival. Keep visiting as October approaches and more details are added to the site. There's even an artist and info upload area so you can send us pictures and past event information.
 



Escape ARTfest Patrons Announced - Partners Rick Stein and Sarah Burns have offered to be the official patrons of the Escape ARTfest.

This is fantastic news for the festival and we look forward to having Rick and Sarah involved.
 



EVENT ENTRY DETAILS:
the committee are now accepting entries for events and exhibitions to take place as part of ARTfest 2010. Please visit www.escapeartfest.info and go to 'forms' located in the ART drop-down tab along the top of the page. If you're planning to host an exhibition or other creative event you MUST return this form by 9th July. There is an early bird discount for forms returned by 28th May. Email us if you'd like the forms emailed to you.
 



INFORMATION NIGHT: For anyone interested in finding out more about ARTfest 2010 there will be a general info night THURSDAY 3RD JUNE 6pm at the Millhouse Art Society Gallery, Courtyard Studios Milton.

Come along to collect information, meet the committee, put forward ideas and network with other artists/venue owners.
 



PRIZES - the committee are once again very pleased to offer a wide variety of arts prizes as part of the festival. The prizes this year are all based on the festival theme REFLECT.

Entry is open to all who wish to enter, with all prizes offering a variety of categories. This information and entry forms will be available on the website very soon.

OPEN STUDIO TRAIL
: We are seeking expressions of interest from studio owners (private or commercial) to be part of an open studio trail on Saturday 9th Oct, 2-4pm. Open your studio for a couple of hours and let the public see inside the real world of the artist. Whether you're a painter, potter, sculptor, multi-media or fibre artist, this event will allow the world a glimpse into your creative space. Great exposure for those looking to get known.
 



More Volunteers Needed:
we could always do with more helpers. If you think you could offer a hand, in even a small way, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers are especially needed to help fundraise, run community art projects, organise workshops & other events, market the festival, etc... as they say 'many hands make light work.'
In the next few weeks we will need a few spare bodies to deliver info to businesses around town. Let us know if you could do this?
 



Getting the word out
 - this year we hope to use more creative marketing techniques including the onslaught of viral marketing media and our website to greatly extend our reach, hence letting more people know what's going on. Everyone is encouraged to spread the word, become a fan on Facebook, visit the website and pass on emails. If everyone takes up the challenge to 'spread the word' the better it is for everyone!

Events 2010/b> - several old favourites will continue to feature in the program, though this year you can expect to see more 'combo' events. In order to make the 10 day festival as creatively exhausting as possible we will be combining art, music, film, literature, etc... this means events will be much more appealing to a wider audience, adding to the overall experience. Watch out in the next newsletter for a preview of some of the exciting events to come!

 - as a non-profit, community organisation we depend on the local and business community to pledge support. If you can help us achieve this we'd love to have you on board. If you are a business/individual who can offer financial or service support we'd love to hear from you too!

New Venue for SOAP & Youth Art Prizes
- This year we are delighted to announce that the Shoalhaven Open Art Prize and the Escape ARTfest Youth Art Prize will be exhibited at the Dunn Lewis Centre in Ulladulla. Members form the committee visited the centre, to be opened in August, and were absolutely in awe of the amazing work being carried out there. The space is beautifully professional and will be invaluable to the entire community.  The Institute of Design Ulladulla is another new and impressive venue with several events to be showcased there. It is wonderful to have these new venues on board for the festival.
