A woman of many talents, Charlotte Gainsbourg is not only is one of the most fascinating actresses of her generation, she is also a remarkable singer whose unique voice is instantly recognizable.
In 2006, she recorded the album 5:55 with the groovy electro-pop duo Air and Jarvis Cocker, and she has contributed to film soundtracks such as the Bob Dylan biopic “I‘m Not There” (2007), in which she also starred opposite Heath Ledger. Produced by Beck, her third album “IRM” is slated for release on January 26 by Because Music/Elektra Records.. The video for the newly released single, “Heaven Can Wait,” is already garnering rave reviews.
IRM is proving to be one of the most celebrated albums of early 2010. Vanity Fair has called it “an enigmatic, varied, and sonically complex tour de force." In a four-star review, UNCUT lauds the album’s “relentlessly forward-looking, hybridized pop vision.” Among the many others who have celebrated “IRM” are Rolling Stone, SPIN, Pitchfork, Esquire, Stereogum, Elle, NYLON and Harper’s Bazaar.
Performing live in the U.S. for the first time, Charlotte Gainsbourg will showcase material from this highly anticipated new album, in select U.S. cities and on the "Late Show with David Letterman” on January 18th.
Backing Gainsbourg in the upcoming live shows will be a highly accomplished band including Bram Inscore (bass), Amir Yaghami (strings/guitars/percussion), Brian LeBarton (keyboard), Nicole Morrier (background vocals/guitar) and Eric Gardner (drums).
IRM is the first time Beck has ever been so involved in another artist’s work. He brought in many of his regular collaborators, including Joey Waronker and James Gadson on drums, Brian LeBarton on keyboards, David Ralicke on trumpet and Beck’s father, David Campbell, for string arrangements.
